Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 8, 2026
Solvr ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Solvr mobile application and website at solvr-landing-eight.vercel.app, how it's used, and what choices you have.
By using Solvr, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. No account required
Solvr does not require you to create an account, and does not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information to use the app. Your solve history is stored locally on your own device and is not synced to a server-side account tied to your identity.
2. Information we collect
Photos you capture or upload
When you photograph or upload a problem (and, for Mistake Detective, your own work), the image is sent to our backend, which forwards it to our AI provider to read and solve the problem. We do not retain the original photo on our servers beyond what's needed to process your request. A short-lived cache may store the resulting solution (keyed to a hash of the image, not to you) so that a repeat photo of the same problem doesn't need to be reprocessed — this cache is ephemeral and is cleared automatically whenever our backend restarts or redeploys.
Chat messages
If you use "Ask Solvr" to ask a follow-up question about a solution, your message and the relevant problem context are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. This context is kept in server memory only for as long as needed to support that conversation, and is not linked to any personal identity.
Purchase information
Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat but never receive or store your payment card details.
What we don't collect
Solvr does not currently use any third-party analytics or crash-reporting service. We don't track your behavior across other apps or websites, and we don't build an advertising profile of you.
3. How we use your information
- Read and solve the problem in your photo
- Independently verify math, physics, and chemistry answers where applicable
- Generate Mistake Detective's comparison between your work and the correct solution
- Answer your follow-up questions via Ask Solvr
- Generate practice problems targeting your weaker concepts
- Process and manage your subscription
- Monitor for errors and keep the service running
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. AI processing
Solvr uses OpenAI's models to read, classify, and solve the problems you photograph, and to power Mistake Detective and Ask Solvr. Math, physics, and chemistry answers are also independently checked using real symbolic computation (SymPy) running in a sandboxed environment — this verification step happens on our own servers, not through the AI provider. Per OpenAI's API terms, data submitted through their API is not used to train their models by default.
5. Third-party services
Solvr integrates with the following third-party services. Each is contractually required to protect your data and use it only to provide their services to us.
OpenAI
Reads and solves photographed problems, and powers Mistake Detective and Ask Solvr. Does not use your data for model training by default.
RevenueCat
Handles subscription management and purchase verification. May collect device identifiers and purchase history.
Google Cloud
Hosts our backend API. Processes images and text transiently to generate your solution.
6. Data retention
Because Solvr doesn't use accounts, your solve history lives on your own device for as long as you keep the app installed — uninstalling the app removes it. Photos are not retained on our servers beyond generating your solution, and any server-side solution cache is ephemeral, not tied to your identity, and clears automatically on backend restarts.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of any data we hold
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
Since Solvr doesn't link data to an account, most of these requests apply to your device's local storage, which you control directly by uninstalling the app. For anything else, email sarihammad@gmail.com.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS) for all requests between the app and our backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your rights, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law.
9. Children's privacy
Solvr is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or this page at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
